These beautiful, long - lasting extremely natural looking flowers are actually made out of a synthetic clay from Thailand. This clay does not need to be cured or heated, but air dries overnight. The process of making the clay flowers is fun and enables the artist to be creative while trying to reproduce something in nature.
The clay is relatively easy to work with, requiring dexterity and a comfort level achieved after a great deal of practice. The actual color of the clay is white, but other color is added by using oil paints. The creation of the flowers is done by flattening the clay very thin. The petals, pistils, buds, roots, stems, and leaves are then cut out of the clay and futher formed by hand.
Details are added with small tools, resin molds, and the continuous shaping by hand. The plants are placed in pots or driftwood and give you the effect of natural elegance without the look of plastic. They are easy to clean with a small, soft brush to remove any dust. It is important to keep the clay flowers inside out of the sunshine.
